Major Options / Build:

Additional Description: We are offering this 1979 International Harvester Scout II Selective Edition. The SE features included an SSII-style grille, gold side stripes, and matching gold wheels. This one was built on October 24,1978 per the line setting ticket and was sold new by Swigarts Garage of Xenia, Ohio. It is reported to have remained with its original owner until 2018 and was repainted in dark brown with gold stripes. The 345ci V8 sends power to either the rear tires or all four through the factory three-speed automatic transmission and a two-speed transfer case as all Scout IIs were equipped with Dana 44 front and rear axles as 1974. The seats are trimmed in Sierra Tan upholstery with a color coordinated dashboard, door panels, and carpeting. Factory equipment includes a sport steering wheel, a tilt steering column, air conditioning, an AM/FM stereo, and cruise control. There is an A/C compressor but the A/C in inoperable at this time. The five-digit odometer shows 41,598 miles, nearly 8k of which are said to have been added since 2018, but true mileage is unknown. The 15 wheels feature manually locking front hubs and wear 31?10.50 Falken Wild Peak A/T tires showing 2016 date codes. There was maintenance reported to have been performed in 2018 that included updates to the braking and ignition systems. An included invoice shows work done in December 2019 that included a new rear main seal, resealing of the transmission and transfer case, the oil pan was replaced, a new wiring harness was installed, and an oil change was done. More pictures and information will be coming soon.

Recalls are a well-established global practice; from time to time they are announced by almost all manufacturers of not only cars, but also any other industrial products. But since a car is considered a source of increased danger, it is recalls in the automotive industry that attract the most attention and cause the greatest resonance. Check if your car is covered by a recall campaign. Sometimes manufacturers will recall their cars because of substandard parts or workmanship and repair them for free, regardless of the warranty. This is called a recall campaign. More information on 1979 International Harvester SCOUT recalls can be found in this database. It may be useful to use online problems resource that shows automotive defect patterns, based on complaint data submitted by vehicle owners. The problems are organized into groups with data published by vehicle, component, and specific issue. See also an updated list of 1979 International Harvester SCOUT problems before buying a used car. In most cases, the recall is initiated by the manufacturer. But it also happens that it is forced to do so. The largest and most scandalous recall campaigns were those that were initiated by complaints and lawsuits from consumers through controlling state structures.
